Today marks a milestone for ACI Worldwide as it marks ten years since the opening of its Limerick data centre, located at the National Technology Park. The anniversary reflects a decade of investment and activity within Ireland’s technology sector.

During a visit to the site, ACI leadership met with MEP Billy Kelleher and undertook a tour of the facility. The Limerick site operates as a hub for the company’s operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), providing infrastructure used in real-time digital payment processing.

One of the centre’s core functions is to support ACI’s private cloud environment. This allows client organisations to use ACI’s payment software without requiring complex on-premise systems. As demand for digital services grows, the European hub supports scalable payment processing and aims to maintain service continuity.

The data centre is designed with a focus on security, including redundancy across power, network, and operational systems. Data handling is carried out within regional boundaries in line with European regulatory requirements. The facility supports a range of clients, including major Irish banks, and underpins banking operations, electronic banking services, and merchant acquiring processes.

The Limerick site reflects Ireland’s role in hosting international data centre and technology operations. It contributes to local employment and broader technology activity in the region. Partnerships with industry participants have supported its continued operation as part of Europe’s digital infrastructure.

ACI Worldwide representatives on site include Martina Power, Head of Client Delivery; Jimmy Hennessy, Global Head of AI & Data Science; Shane Blake, Regional HR Director; Peter Gorley, Regional Sales Director, UK & Ireland; and Mike Holden, Head of Data Centre Operations. Their roles contribute to the operation and management of the facility.

As Europe’s digital economy evolves, the facility continues to support digital transaction processing across the region. ACI Worldwide’s ongoing operations in Limerick reflect its continued focus on payment technology infrastructure and service delivery.
