Ethos Engineering, an Irish firm specialising in sustainable data centre design in the EMEA region, has expanded its capabilities with its latest acquisition. Backed by Exponent, Ethos has acquired 3DEC Ltd, a UK-based consultancy known for its ICT design services for data centres, commercial spaces, and educational environments.

This acquisition is set to enhance Ethos's client offerings by integrating 3DEC's design services directly into its operations.

The acquisition marks another step for Ethos following its partnership with private equity firm Exponent in March 2024. This period has seen Ethos's revenue increase, employee count soar to 259, and expansion into the UK and the Netherlands, alongside a new HQ in Dublin. The addition of 3DEC's team, which comprises over 40 skilled engineers, further increasing the company's headcount.

Greg Hayden, Ethos Engineering's chief executive, noted that Ethos's collaboration with 3DEC has been successful over the years, emphasising their shared dedication to excellence. Bringing 3DEC's professionals on board seeks to enhance service delivery and project execution.

Dylan Lewis, managing director of 3DEC, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic fit with Ethos. He remarked that aligning Ethos's can accelerate their growth trajectory and augments their service offerings to clients, particularly within the blue-chip data centre sector.

Exponent's partner, Anthony Clegg, highlighted the importance of this acquisition, noting its significance in Ethos's continual evolution, broadening of service capabilities, and increasing workforce, helping them cater to a broader range of hyperscale and co-location data centre clients.

While specific commercial details remain undisclosed, 3DEC will maintain its brand, with Dylan Lewis and his leadership team steering its continued operations.
