NGD turns to npower for 100 per cent renewable supply

Next Generation Data has appointed npower Business Solutions as its new energy supplier and with this reaffirmed its leadership in sourcing all data centre power from 100 per cent renewable sources including wind, hydro and solar.

Since 2010 NGD has led the industry in sourcing all mains connected power (180 MVA) from renewables and in 2014 became the UK’s first data centre operator to receive a Climate Change Agreement (CCA) from the Government. Initiatives such as these allow customers to benefit from NGD’s exemption to carbon taxation and lower cost power, while also enabling the facility to further reduce carbon emissions.

Wayne Mitchell, Director of Markets & Innovation for npower Business Solutions, said, “We are delighted NGD has turned to us to ensure they maintain their industry leading track-record in green energy at this world-class data centre facility.”

“npower Business Solutions offered us a compelling long-term supply proposition and their appointment is in line with NGD’s ongoing environmental and energy efficiency goals,” added Nick Razey, CEO, NGD.
