Redcentric redefines product offering for G-Cloud 7

Awarded place on latest version of the public sector cloud buying framework.

Redcentric has been awarded a place on G-Cloud 7 - the Government’s latest cloud-services procurement framework operated by Crown Commercial Service. Part of the framework since its inception in 2012, Redcentric has used the latest version as an opportunity to refresh and strategically evolve its product offering in line with real public sector cloud needs. 
 

Redcentric has invested heavily in its facilities and its product line and is now able to add three new services to its existing lots of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and SCS.
  • Desktop as a service (DaaS) provides IT managers with a way to manage, update and secure user desktops from a single point, using virtual desktop technology.
  • Managed Database as a service (DBaaS) for MS SQL and Oracle, either hosted or on-site. Redcentric’s team provides maintenance, updates, upgrades and support for the databases, as well as data analysis that can be used to recommend changes.
  • Managed access points for departments who require a wireless service. 

Peter Nailer, senior bid manager at Redcentric, comments, “The recent European Court of Justice ruling on ‘Safe Harbour’ and the protection of UK data held by US companies means the public sector, more than ever, needs to ensure that they’re using UK cloud service providers to host and manage data.
 

“We believe that each iteration of the G-Cloud framework is the ideal time to invest and evolve our own products in line with real needs. A lot of companies simply take an administrative view of each new version. We take a strategic focus: identifying where we can improve our product lines, listening to customers and building on our experience of delivering over ?10.2 million of services to the public sector over G-Cloud.”

 

All of the new services adhere and conform to Government Security Classifications. As part of Redcentric’s four lots on G-Cloud it already provides services that include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), hosted IP telephony, mobile device management solutions, as well gateway and secure access to N3 (the NHS network) and PSN (the public sector network) for third party providers.

 

Recent
research by Redcentric highlighted that the public sector is still only in the early stage of cloud adoption, representing a massive opportunity for those in the sector. Three quarters of public sector IT managers claim that they’re only just taking the first steps on their cloud journey.
 

Nailer finishes, “G-Cloud has helped simplify the buying process for government IT managers. Over the past three years we’ve heard a lot from our customers about the challenges they face. We’ve re-written our service definitions for some of our products to help simplify the procurement process and have added in other product lines where we’ve seen strong demand.”
