Red Hat launches new release of OpenShift Enterprise and adds Private iPaaS

Red Hat, Inc. has announced OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 and strengthened its xPaaS with a new private integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) offering to provide cloud-based services for application integration and messaging. Based on their traditional on-premise counterparts, the new services — JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS — offer unified, enterprise-grade integration to, from, and within the cloud. With today’s release of OpenShift Enterprise 2.2, Red Hat further enhances the PaaS experience by delivering key features for operations, including integration with Red Hat CloudForms.

Hybrid IT infrastructures are the new norm for modern enterprises, but integrating applications and workloads across these environments can be complex and challenging. Cloud-based integration and messaging tools such as JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS allow for faster integration by removing the traditional infrastructure setup process that can increase application time-to-market. OpenShift by Red Hat gives developers and enterprise architects more control over their application infrastructure through self-service capabilities.

JBoss xPaaS services blend the agility and flexibility of PaaS with powerful middleware capabilities in an enterprise-ready package. Red Hat opens the door to a new paradigm for enterprise application development by combining its middleware stack and PaaS technologies to create a unified development and operations experience. In addition to the application container service based on Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and new generally available integration and messaging services, JBoss xPaaS technologies available today in developer preview include services for data virtualization, mobile, application containers, business process management, and business rules management.

JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS are based on Red Hat’s traditional on-premise integration and messaging offerings, Red Hat JBoss Fuse and Red Hat JBoss A-MQ. The latest versions of both products, announced at Red Hat Summit 2014, introduced features such as full support for AMQP 1.0, a vast library of connectors, improved high availability, and the ability to manage processes.

The release of OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 brings improved integration with existing datacenter infrastructure and enables easy deployment on a variety of virtualization and cloud technologies through integration with Red Hat CloudForms, the company’s hybrid cloud management offering. OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 provides out-of-the-box integration with popular identity management and DNS management platforms for easy integration into enterprise datacenters. In addition, enhanced PaaS management for operations is enabled by the addition of application placement and middleware cartridge configuration controls. OpenShift Enterprise deployment can be fully automated and controlled by Red Hat CloudForms. This capability enables OpenShift Enterprise to be deployed automatically to any hybrid cloud infrastructure managed by CloudForms.
