NVIDIA and SK hynix expand AI and semiconductor collaboration

NVIDIA and SK hynix have announced a technology partnership focused on AI infrastructure, memory development and semiconductor manufacturing, with plans to collaborate on next-generation memory solutions, digital twin technologies and AI-driven factory operations.

NVIDIA and SK hynix have entered into a technology partnership focused on developing AI infrastructure and advanced memory solutions. The collaboration is intended to support the growing demand for AI systems and contribute to semiconductor design and manufacturing efforts.

The partnership centres on the development of memory technologies designed for AI-related applications. As part of the collaboration, SK hynix will have access to NVIDIA's infrastructure roadmap to help address memory requirements across areas such as AI infrastructure, personal computing systems, and robotics.

The companies plan to co-develop memory solutions for NVIDIA's product portfolio, including the Vera Rubin AI supercomputers and Jetson Thor robotic platforms.

NVIDIA's CUDA-X libraries and PhysicsNeMo framework are being used in semiconductor simulation and design workflows. These technologies support applications such as technology computer-aided design and computational lithography, which are used in semiconductor manufacturing processes.

SK hynix intends to work with NVIDIA and other software vendors on electronic design automation and simulation technologies using these tools.

Another area of collaboration involves the use of digital twin technology in manufacturing. SK hynix plans to use NVIDIA Omniverse and OpenUSD technologies to create digital representations of factory environments for the visualisation and analysis of semiconductor manufacturing processes.

The collaboration also includes the use of NVIDIA cuOpt and the Metropolis platform to support operational planning and simulation. These technologies can be applied to the coordination and management of autonomous mobile robots and other manufacturing assets.

In addition, the companies are exploring ways to integrate digital twin technologies with existing manufacturing systems to support data-driven decision-making and the development of AI-assisted workflows in semiconductor fabrication facilities.
