StorMagic and HiveRadar edge computing solution for mobile environments

StorMagic partners with HiveRadar to deliver an edge computing solution for secure, high-performance, and mobile environments.

StorMagic has announced a partnership with HiveRadar to deliver an edge computing solution designed for mobility, resilience, and high performance. The offering is intended for organisations requiring secure computing in remote and mobile environments.

At the centre of this collaboration is StorMagic’s SvHCI, which provides virtualisation and storage for edge environments. In combination, HiveRadar’s Portable Edge Data Center (P-EDC) hardware enables deployment across a range of locations, including branch offices and field environments.

Together, these technologies are designed to support the deployment of power-efficient IT infrastructure without the scale of traditional data centre setups. The solution is intended for use in areas such as disaster recovery sites, mobile command centres, remote filming locations, and distributed retail environments.

Key features of the joint solution include:

  • Data-at-rest encryption to support security and compliance.
  • VM import capabilities to assist with workload migration.
  • Caching mechanisms to support performance in constrained environments.
  • Embedded telemetry and witness for real-time monitoring and data integrity.
  • Low-latency compute and storage for field-based use cases.
  • Off-grid capability for remote and disconnected sites.
  • Mobile deployment and redeployment capabilities.
  • Secure communication using Mako PCI DSS-compliant 5G cellular, with support for satellite terminals.

The combination of SvHCI and HiveRadar’s P-EDC enables organisations to virtualise mobile infrastructure with availability features designed to support continuous application operation across different locations.

The collaboration provides an approach to edge computing that supports a range of sectors, including defence, emergency response, energy, retail, and entertainment.
