Yubico launches self-service YubiKey ordering and streamlined portal

Yubico updates YubiKey as a Service with self-service features for easier passkey management.

Yubico has announced updates to its YubiKey as a Service, introducing new features designed to support organisations in managing secure passkeys more efficiently. The update includes Self-Service Ordering, accessible through an upgraded Customer Portal, enabling a more streamlined rollout of phishing-resistant keys across a company.

The Self-Service Ordering feature supports organisations moving toward passwordless authentication using hardware passkeys. In response to the evolving cyber threat landscape, including AI-driven attacks, this capability allows businesses to provide employees with secure passkeys with minimal involvement from IT departments.

Albert Biketi, chief product and technology officer at Yubico, noted that the new features simplify large-scale deployment, reducing logistical challenges for IT teams. The system allows for timely and secure distribution of YubiKeys to employees, contractors, and partners.

Self-Service Ordering

The Self-Service Ordering function allows employees and partners to order YubiKeys independently. IT administrators can send notifications, enabling recipients to select their preferred YubiKey models and enter shipping details through a branded web platform.

  • Choice and autonomy: Users can select the YubiKey model compatible with their devices, with shipping available across the US, Canada, and Europe.
  • Reduced operational overhead: Delegating order management to end-users accelerates adoption and reduces the workload on IT support teams.
  • Customised experience: Organisations can personalise the self-service portal to reflect their branding, providing users with a consistent and recognisable interface.
Enhanced management with Customer Portal

The upgraded Customer Portal, formerly the YubiEnterprise Console, provides IT teams with a centralised platform for monitoring YubiKey deployment. Features include inventory management, deployment tracking, and real-time insights into user activation, giving organisations a clear overview of their passkey deployment and security operations.
