HGC selects Ciena Technology

Optical and routing solutions enhance edge capabilities and improve connectivity into and out of the Philippines.

To drive digital transformation in the Philippines, HGC Global Communications Limited, a fully-fledged ICT service provider and network operator with extensive global coverage, is working with Ciena to deploy cutting-edge technology for HGC’s Data Center Interconnect (DCI) service. This initiative is poised to enhance the country’s digital infrastructure, catering to the burgeoning demand for high-speed, reliable network solutions from carriers, global cloud providers, and enterprise customers.

With Ciena’s optical and routing technologies, HGC can provide high-performance data centre connectivity with reduced latency to its customers. This collaboration enhances HGC’s service offerings, giving its customers access to seamless data transfers and ensuring business continuity.

To be implemented by Ciena partner CommVerge Solutions, Ciena’s 6500 Packet-Optical Platform powered by WaveLogic Ai coherent optical technology will support HGC in gaining better flexibility, improved scalability, and adaptability of its network. HGC is also leveraging Ciena’s 3928 routing and switching platform to improve efficiency of operations and service consistency across applications.

“As the Philippines rapidly digitizes, HGC is advancing high-speed, reliable connectivity through its operations on the ground in partnership with local entities, ensuring the country’s connectivity needs are met. With this robust infrastructure, the country is set to enhance connectivity, drive innovation, and attract global investments. By working with Ciena, we’re investing in a scalable and low-latency architecture to help our partners simplify their approach and set up quickly in new markets,” said Michael De Castro, First VP - In-Country Project Investment, International Business of HGC, and President of DWIC.

HGC will also use Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite to support rapid planning, provisioning, turning-up, and troubleshooting of services, as well as the use of analytics and intelligent network control to optimize network performance.

“HGC is establishing an edge for itself by leveraging Ciena’s technologies and our strong reputation with global Tier 1 operators and cloud providers to form an attractive proposition to expand their presence in the Philippines. Ciena’s proven optical and routing and switching technologies are helping HGC provide high-capacity, low-latency connectivity, reducing transport costs and driving the digital experiences of tomorrow,” said Matt Vesperman, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Ciena.
